A set of interrelated components that collect, process, store and provide as output the information needed to complete the business tasks. It always includes people who operate the system and carry out some of the work. What is a computer application (app)? A computer software program that executes on a computing device to carry out a specific function or set of related functions. An app refers to only the software, not people involved. Define systems analysis Those system development activities that enable a person to understand and specify what the new system should accomplish. It essentially describes what a system must do to satisfy a need. Define systems design Those system development activities that enable a person to describe how the resulting information system will be implemented. It essentially describes how a system will satisfy a need. The Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) 1. Identify the problem and obtain approval 2. Plan and monitor the project 3. Discover and understand details 4. Design system components 5. Build, test and integrate system components 6. Complete system tests and deploy the solution
