INTRODUCTION
Stewardship theory: draws from sociology & psychology; organisational actors
see greater long-term utility in other-focused pro-social behaviour than in self-
serving opportunistic behaviour – “placing the long-term best interests of a
group ahead of personal goals that serve own self-interest”
• feelings of autonomy drive motivation to perform stewardship = control is
counterproductive

Psychological/social contracts: individual’s notion in mutual responsibilities
between themselves and every other birthday celebration, inclusive of their
organization
• content of psychological contracts can be grouped in three currencies:
economic (money), socioemotional (job security), ideological
