Three follow-up activities for exploiting the authentic text with advanced students
✓ Before you begin, read the instructions and notes on the assignment platform and the relevant
section of Advice on Approaching this Assignment.
First Activity
a) A dictionary activity, for vocabulary and dictionary skills development AFTER the class have
read or listened to your selected text.
This could be used later in the same lesson or in another lesson. You can use the vocabulary items
you have selected for pre-teaching or make a different selection. The vocabulary must be from the
text or clearly relevant to the text.
Match the meaning, choose the correct sentence, and what comes first.
Name of Activity I took three dictionary activities as most vocabulary words that I have
chosen are phrases and a little diverse to fit in one single activity.

To reiterate and build dictionary usage in students
To understand the usage of words and phrases in appropriate instances
Aims To revise and revisit the words learned in the listening text
1. After showing the video clip twice to the students ask them to sit
independently and pass them the three handouts containing the
three dictionary activities.
2. Read out the instruction for the three activities from the handout.
Teacher’s Instructions
3. Set a time limit.
4. Monitor and help if needed.
5. Discuss answers to the questions at the end
6. Give praises and feedback.

Instructions - Matching Activity.
1. Match the words/phrases on the left with their meanings on the right.
2. If you are carrying a device, you can do this activity in the form of a Quiz sent
on your mails.
