Newton’s First Law of Motion
When balanced forces act on an object, it will either
stay at rest or if already moving it will carry on at the
1st Law

Newton’s Second Law of Motion
If an unbalanced force acts on an object, it will

accelerate in that direction.
Note: acceleration is the increase in velocity and not speed
