A literature review on the clinical experience of nursing
Clinical learning is an essential element of undergraduate nursing programs ( Cathy and Lyn, 2020). Undergraduate nursing students usually learn the theoretical part of their curriculum and then later on go to hospitals for practice on real patients. In agreement, there are established traditions in undergraduate nursing education, for nursing students to have practice experience within the healthcare settings to apply the theoretical knowledge and skills they have learned at university or other academic settings ( Birks, Bagley, park Burkot and Mills, 2017). Clinical learning is one of the key areas that help educate the importance of nursing students' performance in a clinical setting ( peyrari, 2016). The clinical setting includes the facilities, staff, patients, and nursing instructors. First clinical placements, students may experience dissonance between the academic ideal of expected nursing practice and the reality of the clinical setting. This literature review aims to identify some of the experiences of nurses in clinical settings.
