Dear Mr. President,
The Department of Energy is pleased to present you with this report, Rare Earth
Alternatives in Critical Technologies (REACT) prepared for you by the Advanced Research
Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E). The report provides an analysis of the energy problem
facing the nation especially with regard to crude oil in the face of tremendous challenges of
environmental pollution and global warming as well as the diminishing world oil resources. The
project focuses on a keen strategy of dealing with the problem through the eradication of the
historic environmental mistakes and capitalizing on the opportunities available to the nation. In
the grand scheme of things, the report is a breakdown of some of the most unique ways of
delivering solutions to the problem of energy generation and pollution. It is the vision of the
ARPA-E project team to radically improve the economy of the United States through the
creation of sustainable energy alternatives and establishment of a safe and healthy environment
for the well being of citizens (United States Department of Energy, 2015). The department is
therefore focused on transforming the energy sector through projects such as REACT which by
any means provide meaningfully opportunities to solve the existing problem.
