The project objective was to explore different evidence based fall prevention measures from available literature then use this information to select the most promising interventions and implement them in my practicum site. Some of these interventions include the use of fall prevention kits, vitamin D supplements, exercise, bed side sensors, bed exit alarms and use of fall training videos (Moncada & Mire, 2017). From the literature review and synthesis of these interventions, the use of patient education was selected as the most reliable intervention to train both healthcare providers and patients on how to properly manage patient falls and reduce fall incidences in healthcare settings (Cameron et al., 2018). The goals I set for this project included lowering the incidents and prevalence rates of falls by 80% in the practicum facility within six months. Some of the nurse executive competencies identified by the American organization for nursing leadership (AONE) include prioritizing patient safety, healthcare delivery quality and patient outcomes (A., 2020). Through implementing patient education interventions in the practicum site to curb patient falls, some of the AONE competencies I hoped to achieve included improving patient outcomes by advancing the elderly patients wellbeing and quality of life. Project Assessment

Focus of the project

The practicum project focused on patient falls as a health burden in clinical

settings. The project objective was to explore different evidence based fall prevention

measures from available literature then use this information to select the most promising

interventions and implement them in my practicum site. Some of these interventions

include the use of fall prevention kits, vitamin D supplements, exercise, bed side sensors,

bed exit alarms and use of fall training videos (Moncada & Mire, 2017). From the

literature review and synthesis of these interventions, the use of patient education was

selected as the most reliable intervention to train both healthcare providers and patients

on how to properly manage patient falls and reduce fall incidences in healthcare settings

(Cameron et al., 2018). The goals I set for this project included lowering the incidents

and prevalence rates of falls by 80% in the practicum facility within six months.

Some of the nurse executive competencies identified by the American

organization for nursing leadership (AONE) include prioritizing patient safety, healthcare

delivery quality and patient outcomes (Aone.org., 2020). Through implementing patient

education interventions in the practicum site to curb patient falls, some of the AONE

competencies I hoped to achieve included improving patient outcomes by advancing the

elderly patients wellbeing and quality of life. Previous studies by Liddle & Gilleard

(2017) found that fear of falling was the most prominent emotional implication of patient

falls among the elderly. Through implementing proper patient and nurse fall education
