, ACTIVITY 1.1.
1. Science is an incredible way of knowing what’s all around you. Without science you wouldn’t know how
the waves in the ocean are created. You wouldn’t know that the planets revolve around the sun because
we would still believe that the Earth is in the middle of the solar system. Science is involved in your
everyday life. Mathematics and Science come hand in hand with each other. But knowing one extremely
well will help you out in the other. Math, you are always using equations to solve for certain things. When I
was in 6th grade, my class went on a field trip to an interactive exhibit. It tested us on skill and teamwork.
We would simulate being in the International Space Station and the other group would be at mission
control next door. We were able to get complete the mission quicker than any other class that’s been
there. This exciting experience taught me patience, persistence, teamwork, and focus.
Walking down the hallway to computer class excited me and made me a little anxious. The world of
technology was slowly opening up to me. It was the year I took my first computer class. I learned how to
push a button to start the computer, open up a program, and type. It was interesting, but my fear that I
would accidentally hit the wrong key and make the computer crash overshadowed my ability to enjoy it. I
would have to learn to conquer that fear, as digital technology became a part of my every-day life.
Computers became more common around school as I got older. In fifth grade, there was actually one
computer in the classroom. I rarely practiced it, except if the teachers made us do an exercise using it. I
picked up the skill more readily when I discovered the Internet.
2. Yes being in a Science and Technology class has changed my life and the learning system. I am now actively
making choices about how to generate, obtain, manipulate, or display information. Technology use has
allowed to be actively thinking about information, making choices, and executing skills than is typical in
teacher-led lessons. I am now in the position of defining my goals, making design decisions, and evaluating
their progress.
The disadvantage about this is the issue of network and electricity. At school we had very bad network
connectivity and sometime lights are off for a long time. Some equipment were not been used due to lack
of electricity.
Online polling and other digital tools help to engage all learners, including shy learners who wouldn’t
normally raise their hand in class. Online engagement systems allow you to regularly check in with learners
for feedback on course materials and assignments. Learner insights can also be used to help spot areas
where learners might be struggling. Use these insights to adjust your course delivery accordingly .
