Summary of Strategy
Netflix was able to make strategic moves into a three-stage expansion process and then
was able to set procedures that worked within those markets. They carefully picked certain
markets to use a trial and then learned from those markets before moving forward. The national
regulation restrictions were a challenge that they had to overcome which is why they had to
make deals specific for each region and sometimes each country. They were able to learn about
each country like France and India who only offered local-language video content, and work to
expand on that. The company did a good job about learning from each phase before moving
onto the next one. This is something that companies need to do if they plan on being successful.
Investments
Some of the data that collected that was super important was learning what was attractive
to each region and country, what did all the countries share far as similarities and what was
available when it comes to internet. Building relationships with internet providers will also help
you be successful which is why Netflix created those relationships. Their product relays heavily
on the internet. You can’t use Netflix without it. The bottom line is for any company to be
successful; you need to know what people want and how they are responding to what you have
to offer and what internet provider they use. This is why collecting data from each country is so
important.
If the company wants to invest the time and money on their product, you want to make
sure it meets the demand of your customers. If you don’t have data to ensure that your product
will be successful in each of the country, the company will lose money and end up in bankruptcy.
If they don’t file for bankruptcy, it will limit them to where they can market their product. The
