Domestic Tourism: Someone travelling within their country of residence
Example: Sarah travelling from Manchester to Birmingham
Inbound Tourism: Someone from overseas coming to the UK
Example: Joe travelling from Madrid to Liverpool
Outbound Tourism: Someone from the UK travelling overseas
Example: Chloe travelling from London to Canada

Leisure Travel: Travelling for pleasure, enjoyment, relaxation or special interests (e.g short
breaks, holidays, special events)
Corporate Travel: Travel associated with work or job but takes place away from usual place
of work (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Events)
Specialist Travel: Travelling for a specific reason (e.g adventure, health, education, heritage,
gap year, conservation, special interests)
Sustainable Tourism: Meeting the needs of present tourists and local communities while
protecting the natural, historical and cultural environment for the future
Benefits of sustainable tourism: Helps to protect the environment, reduces the amount of
energy used, reduces the amount of waste created, creates links with the local community

Individuals and couples: No children areas
Families with a range of ages and structures: Parking, kids menus, places and things to do
within a short distance
Groups, educational, senior citizens, special interest: Pre-arranged rooms, safety, booking
facilities
