paresthesia, paralysis and etc. assess swelling, discoloration of finger, check peripheral
pulses, hot spots and wet spots near cast area.

Pt education, may take 24072 hrs to dry completely, cast should be uncovered exposure to air to
dry, position change q1-2hrs, check color, warmth, circulation, movement, avoid application of
powder, ointment on cast area. Check 5p’s.
