NR 505 Week 3 Reflection on Learning Week 4 This week gave me more insight into a different type of research and its purpose. Qualitative research focuses on experiences, perception, and motivatio n and occurs in natural settings. In this study, the collected information and findings are presented in words rather than numbers. It was a bit difficult to find a qualitative, but again the CINAHL with full text helps to broaden my search. Also, the Johns Hopkins Nursing Evidence-Based Practice Appendix E evidence appraisal tool was helpful and guided with each step to differentiate the qualitative article with others. In the beginning, I went through several articles but since this article title stated as a qualitative descriptive study, it was easier to find out, but still, I read the complete article to confirm it. It is definitely appropriate because, in the study, it is examining patient experiences and perception of different resources provided in pressure ulcer prevention and check their appropriateness based on their condition. Yes, a similar kind of study can be conducted with different measures in complex settings. Each research design has its own purpose and has a different method of sample selection, data collection, and the method of calculating the result. As I have experience of qualitative and quantitative in weeks 3, 4 and also went through a mixed method. I strongly prefer a mixed-method because it will be a combination of patient experience and perspective as well as numerical data to represent the generalization of the result.
