Healthcare is an ever changing entity within the world these days. Today care is more patient
and family-centered, putting the patient in the driver’s seat of his or her care delivery model.
According to the Institute of Medicine (2010) with the increased demand for safe, quality, and
affordable healthcare there has been some fundamental role changes within healthcare
profession, including nurses.
Nurses who have completed their Bachelor of Science (BSN) can practice in the hospital or
community health center settings. These nurses have competed at least 4 years of college prior to
gaining employment within their respective specialty. Upon graduation BSN prepared nurses
have gain knowledge to critically think in order to provide safe quality care to individuals across
the lifespan. The Master’s degree prepared nurse has decided to continue his or her education
