What were the most important concepts you learned in week 1?

• How will they prepare you for your future role as a master's prepared nurse?
Dr. Myers and fellow classmates,
I found the information provided this week very informative and interesting. I had honestly never
realized that clinical nurse leaders and clinical nurse specialists were in the spectrum of a master’s
prepared nurse, along with nurse educators and nurse practitioners. The most important concepts I
learned this week include how a master’s prepared nurse works with more autonomy, leadership
abilities, and knowledge than that of a baccalaureate prepared nurse. It is essential for master’s
prepared nurses to fulfill these skills in order to be a proficient, well rounded nurse.
In my future as a master’s prepared nurse, working with autonomy is vital, especially since I want to be
an APRN. Working independently would allow me to see a variety of patients, as well as take some of the
workload off other providers. Exhibiting leadership will also be beneficial in my future role. Even as an
APRN, at the end of the day, I will still be a nurse and want to leader by example. Being a positive leader
could possibly influence other individuals to become nurses or further pursue their education. Lastly, the
knowledge I gain will help prepare me for practicing as a master’s prepared nurse. New information and
techniques are constantly being discovered in the medical field and keeping current with all the new
information is important to better serve my patients. Being a competent, knowledgeable nurse would
allow me to give my future patients the best possible care for overall better outcomes.
