, Section -1- Introduction to IELTS and Language
1- IELTS is by Cambridge and it expires in two years.
2- IELTS is the international English Language Testing System.
3- It is provided by the British Council and IDP around the world.
4- It is either paper based or computer based (highly recommended)
5- Structure of the exam:
IELTS Skills
Speaking - 15 minutes and it is recorded
- 3 parts
Listening - 30 minutes listening and 10 minutes
transfer answers to the answer sheet.
- Listening is played once only.
- 4 parts and 40 questions
Reading (Academic and General) - 1 hour and no transfer time
- 3 passages and 40 questions
Writing (Academic and General) - 1 hour
- 2 writing tasks
- Academic writing
6- IELTS is based on your understanding of language:
Grammar - Correct and no fatal mistakes
- Variety of structures
Vocabulary - No spelling mistakes
- Use relevant vocabulary for topics
Pronunciation - Clear voice
- Speak naturally (not fast, not slow)
- Correct pronunciation
7- IELTS also depends on your general knowledge of global topics.
