I believe that the style of leadership that I resonate with the most is transformational leadership.
Transformational leaders use vision, motivation, and intellectual stimulation to motivate staff
toward achieving set goals. This type of leaders’ mission is to transform a workplace in order to
encourage greater success. This type of leader goes above and beyond what is expected of them,
motivates staff, and sets attainable goals for the workplace. Being able to challenge the intellects
of staff to overcome old habits and take the time to understand what exactly it is that motivates
staff to make changes (McCaffrey & Reinoso, 2017). An example of a goal that may be set by a
transformational leader is increasing patient satisfaction rates. A benefit of this type of leadership
is that it builds professional and respectful relationships with staff. I’m the type of person who
loves to encourage others and go above and beyond to find new ways or better ways to improve
patient care. At my current job, I’m on a committee where we meet twice a month to discuss how
we can implement better patient care and how we can motivate staff on the unit to be on the same
page as us. It’s such a wonderful experience!
