The term imago Dei is derived from Latin and translates to image of God. While some might
argue against this statement, it is part of the core principles that comprise the Christian belief
system. Based on Christian biblical doctrine, humanity was created in God’s image and is a
worldly representation of His likeness. The creation story in Genesis 1:26 demonstrates this
