EXPERIMENT LAB REPORT
Observe Plant cells
, INTRODUCTION
Objectives
To observe and determine the ground tissue of plants.
Plants' ground tissue is made up of all tissues that are just not dermal or vascular. Based on the
nature of the cell walls, they can be classified into three classes. The primary walls of
parenchyma cells are small, and they normally stay alive until they mature. The "filler" tissue in
the soft parts of plants, parenchyma, is found in the cortex, pericycle, pith, and medullary rays of
the primary stem and root. Collenchyma cells have thin primary walls with secondary thickening
in some regions. Collenchyma provides additional structural support, particularly in new growth
areas. When mature, sclerenchyma cells have thick lignified secondary walls and often die.
Sclerenchyma is a plant's primary structural support.
