For the Medical Informatics project, thorough analysis of the project has determined that
progress has been made. Additionally, a manageable number of impediments are present which
would limit the possibility of derailing the project. After a thorough review of the proposal
leadership has given the project their approval.
The May 5 - August 5, 2018 progress report shows that programming has begun and the issues
regarding user requirements have been resolved. However, additional user requirements changes
have surfaced as well as technical issues which were the result of the prior changes in the
development environment in addition to the issues of the development team experience. These
issues have had a significant impact on the pace of the project and have resulted in delays. To fix
the issues the programmers will need to work additional hours to get the project caught up to its
schedule.
Legal has said they may be delayed in providing the project’s policy documentation by the go
live date. The user department has voiced their concerns that they may not be able to deliver test
packs for user testing; several members of the staff will be unavailable due to the Thanksgiving
holiday. After initial testing, issues with performance have been discovered which were the result
of poor coding and programming bugs. These issues have resulted in the application crashing, at
a minimum, once a week. Furthermore, end users continue submitting enhancement requests that
require time to complete.
The previous Project Manager (PM), John, had decided to leave the organization resulting in
indecisiveness within the team. These technical issues have built a divide between the project’s
