Week 1 Discussion
The Value of the Humanities:
The study of humanities is "Living" to me. Learning about cultures and the way others
live. I'm an officer and ex-military so I have and still see different kinds of nationalities. After
obtaining my degree I am hoping it takes me to bigger and better places, so learning about how
cultures live and what they believe in, is fascinating to me. I am looking forward to this class
and other than My math classes I have not said that because I love learning about life as well as
living it.
With America being free for all, The United States has so many cultures and different
beliefs now. They all work next to each other so learning about your co-workers, bosses,
subordinates and the way of life could help a company grow or help work production because
employees can and will learn from others.
The study of humanities fits into a business and technical academic setting because
humanities is simply studying the culture of humans, in which can also lead to a multi-discipline
in the area of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Studying humanities is important regardless one's
academic standpoint because, it familiarizes and educates students in the academic discipline on
a wide array of topics, ranging from, but not limited too; history, culture and even philosophy
and law. While in a business or technical program, humanities teaches us the basic blueprint of
how we became who we are and al about everything around us and why it is so. When obtaining
a business or technical degree, image the immaculate amount of cultural diversity one will
encounter, the only way to understand is to educate. I was in business and sales for quite some
time and it was not a walk in the park, you deal with and encounter all walks of life and one bust
