Rep. Dennis A. Ross District 15th
Dennis A. Ross is the US Representative for the 15th Florida’s congressional district,
which includes Hillsborough county and Polk County. Born in Lakeland, Florida, Dennis Ross
started his law practice in 1989 in Lakeland, was elected president of the Greater Lakeland
Young Republicans in 1990, and Chairman of the Polk County Republican Executive Committee
from 1992 to 1995, starting his political career. Soon he served in the Florida House of
Representative and since 2010 was elected to the United States House of Representatives where
he is a member of the Financial Services Committee, serving in the Subcommittee on Capital
Markets and Government Sponsored Enterprises, and the Subcommittee on Housing and
Insurance; he is also a Senior Deputy Whip with Majority Whip Scalise.
Political Views
Among his political views in regards to healthcare, as a conservative republican, Rep.
Dennis Ross sustains that he is against the Affordable Care Act and has proposed alternatives to
“repeal and replace Obamacare with more choice-based, patient-centered solutions” (Ross, n.d.).
He also states he supports giving people the possibility to purchase insurance from anywhere
within the US, instead of limiting their options to their home state.

He introduced H.R. 2688 in 2013, the Providing Accountability and Transparency to
Incentivize Economically Necessary Transitions in Health Care Act. Also known as the
