Hotel lobbies used to imitate the living room in one’s home but in a more
classy way for guests to sit around, read newspapers or having an informal or
business meeting. Guests usually do not spend much time there.
However now hotels are putting much emphasis on their lobbies to
transform them into social ones where much facilities are obtained. Instead
having guests going out to local bars or restaurants, they can enjoy on the
spot and spend money at the hotel itself. This new lobby concept is called
“The HUB” because it integrates the lobby, bar and restaurant space into an
area with multiple places for guests to eat/drink, connect, relax and have
fun.
, A lobby also known as the front office in another words is the hub of a
hotel. It is also called the heart or the nerve center of a hotel. Front office
is called lobby in small hotels. It is a center of guest activities and an image
of a hotel. Front liner staffs must greet as often as possible to all guests
who are entering the hotel to create a positive image of hotel & show the
generosity of hotel.
A hub is a common connection point of all the departments of the hotel thus
it is an effective center of activity. Also called the nerve center, it is the
main root of hotel where every hotel departments deal from there and
where decisions/transactions are made. They are the one responsible for
giving information about the hotel.
Lobbies are the first place for contact and impression the visitor gets when
entering the hotel. After entering the hotel’s building, the initial point of
communication and interaction between the hotel’s staff and the guest. The
lobby is the public space and the lobby sets the tone and style of the hotel
and acts as a differentiation factor or competitive advantage to other
properties in the industry. Therefore, a positive first impression is crucial
and impacts the overall guests’ perception and satisfaction.
Hotel lobby acts as a social hub of activities and a gathering place for social
interactions. It represents the hub of hotel activities and acts as a passage
way to public facilities or guestrooms, as a waiting area or social gathering
place. Therefore, it is essential as a hospitality business to adapt to the
