How did the simulated experience of Olivia Jones’s case make you feel?
I was a little nervous because this was my first OB simulation, and I wanted to provide the best care
possible with the little knowledge I have now.
Describe the actions you felt went well in this scenario.
I felt that most of the scenario went well. I was able to go in and assess her with an understanding of
what is normal and what complications I should be looking for. I was able to provide all the care
needed based on the doctors orders and my assessment of the patient.

EBP What are the risk factors for Olivia Jones and her baby if preeclampsia is not treated in a timely
manner?
If Olivia’s preeclampsia was not treated in a timely manner, it could have progressed to HELLP
syndrome, eclampsia, or death of the mother and fetus.
EBP List the warning signs of hypertensive disorder in pregnant women.
Warning signs of hypertensive disorders are different depending on the type of disorder.
For preeclampsia: High bp, proteinuria, headache, vision changes, epigastric pain, edema in
hands and face, decreased urine output, nausea/vomiting, and uteroplacental dysfunction.
PCC What should the priority teaching for Olivia Jones include?
S igns and symptoms of worsening preeclampsia, ways to prevent them, how to monitor
them, and what to do if they occur.
T&C What key elements would you include in the handoff report for this patient? Consider the
situation-background-assessment-recommendation (SBAR) format.
Situation: Olivia Jones is a 23 year old African- American female, on admission to ED was
