Introduction:
The purpose of these findings is to investigate the effect of COVID 19 on employment
opportunities and hiring practices. COVID 19 has dramatically affected many organizations in the
world, many people are unemployed and many have been laid off by their current employer. This
has simultaneously affected many families as they are struggling to survive in the current situation.
In this research we are trying to examine the effect of COVID 19 on the employment opportunities
in Pakistan, and we further investigated about current hiring practices prevalent in the job market.
In order to conduct the survey, we circulated questionnaires to 98 respondents who were
employees of small and large size organizations. These respondents consisted of head of
departments as well as junior level staffs of several organizations. We have chosen 5 point likert
scale to evaluate our research. The data was analyzed by the Smart PLS software. CFA test was
applied to confirm the validity of the questions and SRM (Structural Regression Model) was
applied to test the reliability and variability of the hypothesis about relations among observed and
latent variables. A Likert scale type scoring was applied to questions, scores are 1=Strongly
disagree, 2= Disagree, 3=Neutral, 4= Agree and 5 = Strongly agree.
Methodology:
, The data was collected in a stepwise manner through a survey accompanied by questionnaires
distributed via Google form. First the pilot test was conducted and questionnaires were evaluated
by expert and experienced professionals. The questionnaires were modified accordingly. The
survey was conducted from 25th of December 2020 till 05th of January, 2020. A total of 18
questions were sent to many employees of small, medium and large organization. We received
feedback from 98 respondents and interpreted the results of our research accordingly.
Study Design:
Data Collection Tool:
The data is collected through questionnaire by an online means due to COVID-19 outbreak and
lockdown. The questionnaire was comprised of total 18 questions. The questions are based on the
impact of COVID-19 on the following variables.
business profit margin reduction
downsizing of staff
health issues of employees
hiring practices and employment opportunities
These variables impacted the current employment opportunities in the market.
Type of Data collected:
The sample size is 98; the data was accumulated from the employees of small, medium and large
sized enterprises operating in Pakistan.
Data Entry and Analysis:
The data is entered and analyzed by Smart PLS software. CFA test is applied to confirm the validity
