Communication structure is extremely important within any type and or form of an
organization. Whether we are talking about a government led organization or a corporation as
large as Wal-Mart or Apple; the communication structure of the organization is generally the key
to success. Effective leaders and managers will also generally display the ability to lead others
through well developed and established communication procedures. Communication is
something that is required for everything that is completed. Communication must be effective
and efficient at all levels. Productive organization communication is a direct result of employees
and leaders, who know and understand the importance and how to implement some of the key
principals of human communication, dealing with conflict resolution and management, when and
where to utilize informal and formal communication, and the process of active listening within
their organization.
If I was purposing a new communication structure for an organization, there are a few
areas that I would have to look at. Initially, communicational structure is extremely important
as noted in the previous paragraph. It is important that people involved know and understand
the key principles of human communication, conflict resolution and management, the types of
formal and informal communication, and what organizational culture can do to communication
organization in an organization. It is in my opinion that communication structure is managed
based on these topics. Over the next few pages, I will address the importance of these issues in
regards to organizational communication.
Human communication is at the forefront of communication as humans interact nonstop
within many organizations. Some of the key principles of human communications are verbal,
nonverbal, and external messages. These are some of the basic foundations to human
communication. Basically, this is the way that humans communicate with one another and Kreps
(2011) stated that messages are the primary symbols of the communication process; they work as
cues to stimulate communicators to create meaning. Basically, messages can be sent between
