Why are ethics important in the health care environment? Give an example of a ethical
situation.
Ethics is important because ethical decision making is required when the healthcare executive
must address a conflict or uncertainty regarding competing values, such as personal,
organizational, professional & societal values. Those involved in this decision-making process
must consider ethical principles including justice, autonomy, beneficence & nonmaleficence as
well as professional & organizational ethical standards & codes. Many factors have contributed
to the growing concern in healthcare organizations over ethical issues, including issues of access
& affordability, pressure to reduce costs, mergers & acquisitions, financial & other resource
constraints, & advances in medical technology that complicate decision making near the end of
life. Healthcare executives have a responsibility to address the growing number of complex
ethical dilemmas they are facing, but they cannot & should not make such decisions alone or
without a sound decision-making framework.

Professor & classmates I feel that ethics are extremely important in the healthcare field because
you are dealing with the general masses & with peoples health & essentially their lives. It is
important to have good moral characer when working in the healthcare field. In your hands & in
the organizations responsibilities to the community it serves is the complete trust of its patients.
An example of an ethical situation would be a doctor having to choose reimbursement of
services provided based on how he/she is treating the patient. The doctor here has to make the
ethical or right choice, treat the patient accurately to the best of his abilities with out abusing the
ystem or the patient regardless of how much he or she will be reimbursed.

demographic popularizes generally base a true generation on those with similar economic, social
and/or cultural factors that they have shared. For this reason, the True Baby Boomers are
