Key Organizations in the HIT Career Field
American Hospital Association (AHA) is a nationally recognized hospital advocacy club
with over 5,000 hospitals and health care companies, their patients and administrators as its
members. The AHA boasts a commitment to improving health care as whole for the
communities; their mission is defined by the promise of advancing medical management for
independent entities as well as the commonwealth.
The American Hospital Association recognizes the importance of keeping health
information readily available to patients as they need it. AHA’s ongoing surveys of patient access
to healthcare show most health service corporations are intensifying the experience patient can
have online with their medical records. Many organizations offer the patient the ability to view
and download their record while other healthcare systems may off the ability to communicate
with specific physicians or medical teams when a patient has a question. The AHA is keeping an
eye on the rise in electronic health record management and is making sure their members
continue to anticipate the needs of patients’ autonomy in managing their own health record.
The American Medical Association is an association established in 1845 by Dr. Nathan S.
Davis (“Founding of the AMA”, 1995-2018) to better public health standards and implant
standards for medical education and ethics. The AMA has taken a stand in building cultural
awareness through their patients; they also have vast ethical resources available to their community
members.
While being recognized for their liberalizing healthcare practices, the AMA also has a
keen eye for managing medical information; their website offers a detailed look into practice
