your answers with material you have read from the text and additional
research you perform. This means your responses to the prompts
will have citations and references. Your grade is determined by the
level of which you answer the prompts and the level of collegiality
you show with your responses. You must demonstrate that you fully
and completely understand the topic and fully and completely
address the prompt. You will then reply to a minimum of three
classmates with replies that are thoughtful, respectful, and
challenging. Replies to classmates must move the conversation
forward. Replies stating you "agree" or "like" their post are not
acceptable as moving the conversation forward In what ways does

Introduction
-Having a degree and not having one makes a difference in the workplace.
It's a fact. Latina women are never seen on the same level with other
women, let alone white women. With a degree you feel powerful,
accomplishment, and excitement. However, once you begin your desired
,job, you may experience feelings of self-doubt. Male tend to be the
dominant figures in most job positions.
-This results in women, especially Latina being seen as general laborers
and not leaders' Latinas tend to put themselves out there to try and reach
their accomplishment but it's always put aside either by another woman of
color or a male.
-Being Latina woman and not having a degree can be more stressful than
anything. You want to find a good job. You may want to see how far you
can rank up and prove to people that you can do the best you can. Being
shut down by other women and men can be devastating.
That is a great challenge.
In what ways does gender influence the experiences of Latina women
in work, education, family life, and activism?
In General
-Gender is an important consideration in development. It is a way of looking
at how social norms and power structures impact on the lives and
opportunities available to different groups of men and women. Globally,
more women than men live in poverty.
-people who are treated fairly and have equal opportunity are better able to
contribute socially and economically to the community, and to enhance
growth and prosperity. Confidence - an equal and fair society is likely to be
safer by reducing entrenched social and economic disadvantage
-Latina women, has often had different priorities to that of white women.
Initial analysis of existing oral histories of women activists in the postwar
period suggests that the language of 'equal pay' and 'sex discrimination'
was more frequently employed by white participants
, -Being exploited because her poverty Latina women. Latina women are
poor because the wealth of our countries was seized Latina women we are
also exploited by racism and sexism.
-The lack of emphasis on 'equal pay' makes sense when we consider that
Latina women have been more likely to be in segregated occupations
where there are limited male comparators from which to campaign for
equal pay.
-Moreover, importantly for Latina women equal pay is not just an issue
relating to men (in which case there are disparities between white men and
latina men), but to other women:
Education
-They earn higher incomes, participate in the decisions that most affect
them, and build better futures for themselves and their families. Girls'
education strengthens economies and reduces inequality.
-While more girls and women are in school today in Latina than ever
before, we cannot afford to be complacent.
- Efforts must continue to ensure all children - girls and boys - have access
to education, including the region out-of-school female children,
adolescents and youth. Disaggregated data reveal that females continue to
face higher barriers to education than males in rural villages.
-Data present evidence to show where girls in latina and women remain at
a disadvantage and help guide our support to where it is needed most in
the pursuit of gender equality.
Remember
"Time is now: Rural and urban activists transforming women's lives", calls
for actions to empower rural women. Education is essential to these efforts.
