PHY 114 Lab Report 2: Electric Field Plotting . Arizona State University.ABSTRACT: The purpose of this experiment was to find and understand electric field and equipotential lines, and the relationship between them in two different conductive fields. These fields were presented as parallel lines as an equivalent to parallel plate capacitor and two concentric circles as an equivalent to coaxial cylinders. This electric field between two parallel conductors was found to follow the equation of E = -∆V/∆r. The electric field in the first parallel plot was found to be 1.123 V/m. With a theoretical value of 1.25 V/cm, there proved to be a 9.92% difference. Both fields were mapped and plotted, and the data reflecting the results confirmed that the experiment ended successfully. OBJECTIVE: The main objective of this lab was to better understand and experiment with electrical potentials and electrical fields. This was done by analyzing where points of equal potential (equipotential) are in an electric field to map a curve that indicated the direction that field lines took.

Lab Report 2: Electric Field Plotting

, ABSTRACT:

The purpose of this experiment was to find and understand electric field and equipotential lines,

and the relationship between them in two different conductive fields. These fields were

presented as parallel lines as an equivalent to parallel plate capacitor and two concentric circles

as an equivalent to coaxial cylinders. This electric field between two parallel conductors was

found to follow the equation of E = -∆V/∆r. The electric field in the first parallel plot was

found to be 1.123 V/m. With a theoretical value of 1.25 V/cm, there proved to be a 9.92%

difference. Both fields were mapped and plotted, and the data reflecting the results confirmed

that the experiment ended successfully.

OBJECTIVE:

The main objective of this lab was to better understand and experiment with electrical potentials

and electrical fields. This was done by analyzing where points of equal potential (equipotential)

are in an electric field to map a curve that indicated the direction that field lines took.
