The Ethics and Legalities of Medication Error Disclosure Advanced Pharmacology week 2 assignment
Legal and Ethical Implications of Closure and Disclosure In general, writing errors during prescription may bring forth deviations or inconsistencies in the intended order by dispensing the incorrect drug, dosage form, dose, wrong quality or even inadequate or inadequate labeling. The error can adversely affect the health professional, his organization and the health of the patient. With that in mind, it is then essential to consider the implications of either disclosing or not disclosing the error. According to the Institute for Safe Medication Practices (2012), it is not only ethical but legal practice to always disclose prescription errors soonest possible as this will prompt the necessary actions thus avert further harm to the patient.
