1. Download the syntax file from Canvas and save the file ***.sps.
2. Download the ***.sav data file from Canvas -> Practical Course Psychometrics ->
3. Modules -> Assignments -> Datasets, Syntax, and Forms and open it in SPSS.
4. Open the syntax file ***.sps in SPSS. FILE->OPEN->SYNTAX
5. Enter the number provided by your tutor after SET SEED = followed by a full-stop (.), e.g.:
SET SEED = 123456. Note: the number should always be followed by a FULL-STOP. If you
don't, it won't work. This rule ensures that each tutor group will have its own unique
dataset. Your tutor will be able to generate the same dataset later on and so be able to
check whether you carried out your assignments properly.
6. Then go to SAMPLE XXXX. For XXXX, please fill in the size of the sample. This changes with
each assignment.
7. Now click RUN->ALL or select all syntax and click on the green run button.
