Don’t be tricked by abnormal assessment findings that aren’t an immediate danger. Look for what would cause you to immediately go check on your patient and/or notify the health care provider. PRIORITY INTERVENTION: This question gives you a scenario that clues you in to a specific problem that is happening. You need to pick the highest priority (ABCs) answer. If it’s a select all question, you pick the answers that you are sure will need to be done given this patient’s current condition (status of ABCs; ambulatory? etc.) ANTICIPATE: This type of question has given you enough information to know what problem your patient is dealing with and is asking you what you would expect to find during your assessment. Know s/s and assessment findings Ex. Your patient presents with wheezing, an empty inhaler, and appears air hungry, the nurse would anticipate what ABG findings.
