BPT – 1501 Assignment 2 – Semester 1 2022 BPT 1501 ASSIGNMENT 2 Question 1 1.1 1.1 The seven key roles for a teacher are: • Learning mediator • Interpreter and designer of learning programmes and materials • Leader, administrator and manager • Scholar, researcher and lifelong learner • Community, citizenship and pastoral role • Assessor • Learning area/subject discipline/phase specialist. 1.2 Learning mediator The educator will mediate learning in a manner which is sensitive to the diverse needs of learners, including those with barriers to learning; construct learning environments that are appropriately contextualised and inspirational; communicate effectively showing recognition of and respect for the differences of others. In addition, an educator will demonstrate sound knowledge of subject content and various principles, strategies and resources appropriate to teaching in a South African context. Teacher can mediate learning in the classroom and help learners learn better by interacting with them. He/she can facilitate interaction
