Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) identifies environmental effects of a proposed
activity and how the impacts can be mitigated. EIA identifies, predicts and analyzes the physical,
social, cultural and health impacts of a project. Health Impact Assessment helps evaluate
potential health effects of a project before implementation. HIA informs about positive and
negative public health impacts through use of data sources and analytical methods. HIA needs to
be integrated in the EIA process to improve decision making. Social impact assessment entails
identifying the social impacts of a project. SIA is essential in the EIA process as it predicts and
mitigates negative impacts while identifying opportunities that are beneficial to the local
communities and the whole society. Economic assessment includes the evaluation of potential
costs and value the benefits of the proposed program. Economic assessment is a tool that is
essential in EIA to help understand the economic impacts of the proposed project to the
community. The article will explore the feasibility of integrating health impact assessment, social
impact assessment and economic assessment within the EIA process.
Environmental impact assessment (EIA) is described as "the methodical review of the
unplanned effect of a development project or program to minimize or moderate adverse effects
while maximizing optimistic ones." In practice, this entails researching and evaluating the
ecological viability of any planned project, as the Project's implementation or operation may

The next step is the search of political support for integration of health, social and economic
assessment into EIA. Ross (2018) informs that it is essential to convene a consultation process to
