Please explain which teaching methods you feel is best to use when you qualify as a teacher and
why?
I have gained insightful information about teaching methods in this course and I feel the
Communicative Language Teaching method is the best to utilize when I qualify as a teacher.
The reason being this approach compliments elicitation in a good way. Elicitation keeps students
focused, engaged, interested, and it forces them to not divert from the topic being discussed in
class. The goal of the Communicative Language Teaching method is to enable students to use the
language to communicate effectively and appropriately while using functions as well as grammar
structures in various situations, they would likely find themselves in. It will then enhance the
learners' own personal experiences. Communicative Language Teaching encourages students to
learn through problem-solving, tasked assignments, and participation. Through this method,
students learn to communicate functions, make requests, describe, etc. This makes it easy to
understand why Communicative Language Teaching is one of the most common methods of today.
Examples of teaching methods that resonated with me during my schooling.
When I was a primary school learner doing grade 5, My teacher used to teach us the language by
using different tasks and taking part in pair work, group work, role-play, and discussions inside
classrooms. We would have more interactive games which linked the classroom language with the
games, we would do news reporting, here we basically perform anchor duties and tell the news
using the target language and We would have interviews or surveys, which developed our
interpersonal skills.
