• Skeletal muscles
o somatic
o voluntary
o (mainly) originate and insert to bones
o makes body shape
• Smooth muscles
o visceral (organ)
o involuntary
o makes walls of internal organs
• Cardiac muscles
o somatic
o involuntary
o make wall of the heart (myocardium)
Functions:
1. producing movement (locomotion and manipulation)
2. maintains posture and body position
3. Stabilizes joints
4. generates heat during contraction
5. protect organs (make walls of internal organs)
6. forms valves
7. controls pupil size
