Because you have been in the program for a while now, you have had many
opportunities to get to know others in the group fairly well. For this introduction, we're
going to shift gears a bit. During this course you will be relating many of your
discussions and assignments to the project proposal you created in NR505. Please
introduce yourself to the class and instructor and include the following information.
Describe the type of facility by which you are employed.
Your current position and for how long
Your prior experience in financial management
Share the PICO(T) you developed in NR505 and/or the one you will be using in
your final project.
What led you to choose this issue/topic?
Hello professor and classmates,
I am what some consider a veteran in nursing with my career spanning thirty five years. I begin
nursing at my small hometown local hospital and later transitioned to a more suburban larger
hospital system. I now work for large national healthcare system. I am the market Director of
Case Management covering 2 local market acute care for-profit hospitals. I have been employed
with this system for 10 years and was promoted to the market position earlier this year. I am
responsible for management of case management and social services at both facilities. My
financial management experience is limited to departmental budgeting, capital purchase requests,
labor management, and revenue reimbursement.
I am truly undecided on my final project. I had a strong interest in palliative care/end of
life decision making when I started my MSN journey. My original PICOT question: In adults
with a chronic life limiting non-cancerous illness, how does end of life discussions in
comparison to no discussions affect the completion of an advanced care plan/advanced
directive? I encounter many patients and families that are faced with end of life journey or
