Wine in bottle is very much affected by
exposure to:
- light
- air
- heat
- excessive movement
Good condition for storing wines:
- stored in dark areas and protected
from light
- temperature should be cool – 55 ºF
(13ºC)
- storage area should be stable, wine
should not be move often.
- they should be stored on their side.
This is to make sure the corks do not dry
up, otherwise oxidation will happen.

Breathing
Breathing is to allow wines to have some contact with
air prior to drinking it.
By doing this, oxygen enhances the wine and intensifies
the odors and flavors.
Most of the old and mature wines will benefit from
breathing because of the complicated bouquet.
Young white wines do not benefit from breathing
because the freshness will be missing in fact the quality
will slowly deteriorate if to much contact with air.
Sparkling wines do not need any breathing because by
doing that the CO2 will be release
