, A SOLUTION TO STAFFING ISSUES 2
Interdisciplinary Plan Proposal
At the rehabilitation hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada where Lauren works, patient care
suffers from high patient to staff ratios due to the high volume of call-outs. This plan proposal
will outline an On-Call Rotation Schedule and questions and predictions needed for successful
implementation.
Objective
This plan will be designed in such a way that there will be available staff members when there is
a call out. New Per Diem staff will be hired to add to the rotation. New hires will work a
minimum of one to three days per month, and be on-call for a week on a rotating schedule. The
schedule will be created by the scheduling manager. Patient care will be improved by keeping the
staff to patient ratios low (Driscoll, et al., 2017). Allowing each patient to get the attention they
need from their nurse or other caregiver.
Questions and Predictions
1. How long will the plan take to implement?
a. The total time frame for the project is six months.
i. The hiring manager will have one month to conduct interviews and get
new staff prepared for orientation.
ii. The scheduling manager will start to create the new schedules as soon as
all the new hires are chosen.
iii. The staff educator will schedule a week long facility orientation.
iv. Each new staff member will have three to four weeks of on the job
training (varies depending on need.
