Week 1- Part 1: My Academic and Professional Success Plan

I wholeheartedly agree with the African proverb “It takes a village,” while they were talking
about raising their children, I have found it to be true with just about everything in life. As I
embark on my Master's degree to open the door to a new career, I am equal parts fearful and
motivated. I envision myself be a pivotal part in my community and one day globally, helping
the millions of people suffering from various psychiatric disorders. The only way these dreams
can become a reality is with the guidance, support, and motivation form my Academic and
Professional Network, My Village.

Why I selected this individual and/or team and how they will support my success
in the MSN program and as a practicing nurse:
I would not have embarked on this journey if it was not for Melissa. Melissa is the one
who informed me about the MHNP field and the program at Walden, two plus years ago,
while she was attending. She lit my fire! She shared her educational journey with me,
and I cheered her on, and now she will do the same for me with the exception she will
have much more to offer being she has completed her degree. Now she is a practicing
MHNP who continues to inspire and support me.
