Description of Ethical Dilemma in Case
An ethical issue is described as a dilemma in which two or additional ethical values are
contradictory (Nelson & Trevino, 2014) for instance, two moral values or principles that can
build conflict are loyalty and truthfulness. According to the case scenario Samantha, an
employee who has been working with a firm from last thirty five years and continuously works
great over the last few years by placing the organization as her first priority. But at present she is
not genuinely performing in her job up to required and expected standard. She has turned out to
be rude and harsh to clients, employees and vendors. The CEO therefore has an option to choose,
the option he should choose would not be a simple one. As on one side there is a lady who has
been with company and him from the start and has been working with loyalty from the start, and
on other side the similar worker who has turned out to challenging to function with employees,
vendors, and customers all criticized about her bad conduct in company. It is a moral issue as
ethical values are in contradiction with one another and those ethical values in the case are
loyalty and truthfulness. Samantha who has been committed for thirty five years with firm is still
present with the corporation in spite of her negative personality and age. The CEO in the
organization desires to be loyal to her since he is conscious that her dismissal and
superannuation isn’t advantageous however he should be committed to the corporation too.
While acknowledged with the reality of her conduct and temper, it made situations worse and
she started to dramatize ever further. At this point in case the CEO should be loyal and truthful
with company as well as himself. He must evaluate all likely alternatives else she might
potentially make his corporation to bear additional harms or she herself can bear the harm.
