that the way members of society behave is a clear side effect of the social class they belong to. Marx
developed a critical analysis of capitalism that saw the material or economic basis of inequality and
power relations as the cause of social instability and conflict (Little, n.d.).
If I were to expand on the disadvantages of social inequalities that Karl Marx mentioned. I believe
poverty is the main contributor of social unrest. I very well understand the difficulties faced by
individuals with low wages, lack of education and unfair workplace treatment from the upper classes in
society. These issues cause the lower classes in society to view the world differently versus the upper
class who are well equipped and live comfortably.
I personally have had experiences with unfair treatment from an employer who clearly stood in a
different class to me at that particular time, and I am aware of many other members of society who
experienced the same. This unfair treatment causes conflict and instability and I can clearly agree with
Karl Marx ideas on this topic. For me, reflecting on his perceptions, he is very right when he spoke of
sectors of society changing their lives to adhere to the ideas developed in their thoughts through living
in lower social classes in society. This has been a topic of Karl Marx historical ideas and this culture still
exists today.
I believe the line between different classes needs to be reduced in order to develop a society without
social conflict. According to Marx, employers didn’t realise that the workers are the ones that produce
the wealth by doing all the work. Sadly, this still exists in society, causing me to believe that we have not
made any corrections from the social unrest of the past into the future.
