brought about positive impact in the field of sociology today. He studied politics, philosophy and
economics and it was to his findings that made him one of the founding fathers of sociology. However,
one of his major contributions was on capitalism and conflict theory.
Karl Marx condemned capitalism and predicted that inequalities would become so extreme that
workers would recognize their common class interests, understand their situation and revolt (Little et al,
2014). He also created an image of how power operates in capitalist society by stating that class conflict
has been used to keep the wealthy in power. Marx was very committed to see social justice among
workers that his theories are being used in our modern societies today.
Furthermore, I have been exposed to Marx perceptions in my society today in many ways. I have seen
how capitalists society still operates in a similar way it did in his time. For instance, most private
company owners take advantage of the labor provided by the workers and exploit the upper hand which
has made the lower class to observe and see how much inequality exists in the social economic systems.
I have seen many workers in my community go on strike for better work conditions and wages. In my
opinion, Entrepreneurship has been the biggest influence on capitalism because people now want full
control of their lives, time and income.
