ECA 380 Becoming an Early Childhood Education Leader in Today’s Society
Step 1: Self-Assessment –
I have always been a very shy, reserved person and I have a hard time being confident in myself but
when I am in the classroom setting, my true self comes out. I’m detail orientated, conscious of time
management, and I love being creative. I feel so energized in the preschool setting, I love working with little
ones and finding new fun ways to incorporate learning through play. It gives me so much joy to watch studen
having fun while learning new tasks and skills on a daily basis. If I knew I wouldn’t fail, I would open up ow
preschool center today, it’s always been my dream and I would love for it to become my reality, but the fear o
failing is always in the back of my mind. In high school, I was a straight A student, I pride myself on
achieving good grades even when its hard. My favorite subjects were history and literature though. Ever sine
can remember, my family members and friends have always came to me for help with crafts, writing
assignments and help with kid related questions. My sisters asked for advice on their little ones before I even
became a mom, I’ve always been a natural with that sort of stuff. At work, my boss always praises me on
my creative activities, and I often help other teachers with their lesson plans. I also get complimented on my
classroom management skills. I think my greatest accomplishment is learning to manage my classroom after
being thrown into the lead teaching position so quickly after being hired. When I am playing with my
daughter, I tend to zone out and lose track of time. I get so consumed by her; the world seems to disappear
during our bonding moments.
Step 2: Career Exploration –
