MPH 604 Week 1 Assignment 1
Question A
There has been a significant decline in death rates for 'all causes' between 1900 and the present
because of technological advancements in the health sector, which have helped combat and
monitor disease transmission. Percentage Death Rate for ‘all causes’ = (1,719.1-793.7)/ 1719.1
= 925.4/1719.1
= 0.53830493*100
=53.83%
In the present, there is better hygiene and medications, which have decreased the death rate. The
public is now aware of the required preventive measures and precautions for disease control.
Scientists have conducted research over the years, and they were able to up with medication for
certain diseases and suggest preventive measures, which have helped reduce the death rate in the
present. (Tricoli and De,15). I believe also that individuals are taking their health more seriously
and making sure that they are staying healthy for their families and friends and most importantly
for themselves, which has also help to reduce the death rate as well hygiene and medications.
Question B
The death rate due to all causes has significantly decreased. However, there has been a
noticeable increase in deaths due to heart diseases and Malignant neoplasms; these could be due
to the changes in people’s modern lifestyle and eating habits, which eventually lead to stress
