Sustainable Water
Lab
Introduction
Sustainable water supply research helps people find reliable approaches to help
people find water that won't exhaust water sources and the local economy. The laboratory
test is used to find reliable water and the effects pollution would have on these areas (Quest,
2021). Water absorption materials can affect people in different ways, from getting sick,
allergic reactions, or even death. So, conducting lab findings help aid the process of finding
sustainable water sources.
My first activity was the sustainable water cycle, and the water levels change in the
drinking wells. I hypothesize that the well water level will be lower than the water level of
the reservoir. In my second activity, we created a point source of pollution. My hypothesis
is the pollution will contaminate the drinking water in the wells. For my next activity, I had
to install a pollution plant that would contaminate the reservoir water to see if it affected the
well's water. I hypothesize that the pollution from the chemical plant will affect the well
water supply. For my last activity, I had to see if fertilization pollution would affect the
water pond downhill from the polluted area.
MaterialsandMethods
The materials that I used came from the Carolina test kit that the school supplied. A
clay one-quarter pound blue bar, 4 cups of sand, Two cups of gravel, one plastic cup, a
permanent marker, One plastic container that is 64 ounces, one pack of flavored Kool-Aid
Mixed drink packet, two pieces of aquarium tubing, two plastic pipes three straws a 10-
milliliter syringe, a disposable pipet, and one foam cup. The materials that were not supplied
, in the Carolina kit that I need it was water, tape, a plastic bowl, scissors, a paper towel, a
stopwatch, and a cell phone to
take pictures of the lab activities. After getting all the supplies together, I chose a designated
area to set up each lab.
