Introduction:
In this part of the unit, I will be coming up with my own personal idea of a gaming asset,
through brainstorming and looking at different ideas people have already made. I will be
doing in depth research on the model I will be creating as well providing the legal and
ethical considerations, and specifications for the model. Overall, in this assignment I will be
planning my model.
My idea:
I am willing to create a combat knife, it is the Defender Bayonet Style Combat Knife. It is designed to
fit on the end of the muzzle of a rifle, musket, or similar firearm, allowing it to be used as a spear-like
weapon. From the 17th century to World War I, it was considered a primary weapon for infantry
attacks.
This knife that I am about to design can be used in movies, as well as in games, such as Call of Duty.
Stimulus:
Client brief: the client brief is when the designer receives an idea to design from the
company he is working with and he has a certain set amount of time to complete and finish
this task. This is not my case, as I am creating this knife for the reason that I would like it to
be used in a game.
Own brief: I want to create a design for a combat knife that I wish it can be used in the game
that I really like which is Call of Duty. I am such a big fan of this game and I have always used
to play this game to have some fun with my friends and to entertain myself. Therefore, I
decided to design this knife as it can be used in games such as the one that I really love
which is Call of Duty. However, I am not sure whether Call of Duty has already used this
exact type of knives or not, I am sure that they did use combat knives but not sure about the
type. Therefore, the knife that I will design may have been designed before and used in the
same game company that I hope to consider this design.
There is more stuff that I had in mind to create which are also related to the model I am
planning to create. I thought of creating a grenade, a pistol, or a knife. And at the end,
apparently, I chose to create the combat knife. Because all this stuff can be used in Call of
Duty as well which is the kind of the “audience” that I am targeting.
, Furthermore, I had other ideas that I could have done. I thought of doing a Range Rover
Vogue 2020 because it is the car that I really hope to drive and own, but I did not do it
because when I did some proper research about it, it sounded so long and I might not have
enough time to complete, therefore I chose something a bit easier and needs less time.
Other than a car, I had an idea to make a sword, but I found that so common, as there are a
lot of people doing it so I changed my mind to make a knife. The sword I wanted to design
was a very popular sword called the Widow’s Wail, I saw that sword in the series “Game of
Thrones” and in that series, it is mentioned to be the strongest sword on earth and that was
the reason why I wanted to create a design of it.
