PSY 665 Topic 6 DQ 2
What do you believe are the most reliable predictors for employees to succeed at the
management level?
Success at the management level requires desire to lead, leadership skills, and continuous
development. Once an employee has a desire to lead, they can then gain leadership skills through
education and experience. Applying learned skills provides real life experience that will further
teach young leaders to be successful (Hope, 2015). Along with the desire to lead, managerial
success is reflected through motivating followers, communication, developing others. Utilizing
communication and motivating techniques helps cultivate well rounded employees who may
become leaders. Managers who want to succeed also want their employees to succeed (Martin,
2007). An organization that helps develop their managers through continued training is important
to the growth of leadership skills and organizational success. It is essential for managers to be in
an environment that fosters open communication and employee development in order to be truly
successful.
