8 PARTS OF SPEECH
NOUN
- It is any word other than pronoun used to identify any of a class of people, things,
animals, place, events including ideas and many others.

PRONOUN
- It is a word that can function by itself as a noun phrase that refers either to the
participants in the discourse or to some mentioned elsewhere in the conversation.
Ex:
He They

ADJECTIVE
- It is a word or phrase naming an attribute in relation to the modification or description
of the subject.
Ex:
Handsome Thick
Thin
Beautiful
VERB
- It is prominently known as the ‘action word’. It is a word utilized to state an action or
describes it telling the state or occurrence. It commonly forms the main part of the
predicate of the sentence.
Ex:
Run Sleep
Eat Jump
, ADVERB
- It is a word or phrase that amends or qualifies an adjective, verb or other adverb or a
word group expressing a relation of place, time, circumstance, manner, cause,
degree, etc.
Ex:
You snore loudly. She is very tall.
I walk happily. He left hastily.
PREPOSITION
- It is a word governing and usually preceding a noun or pronoun and expressing a
relation to another word or element in the clause.
Ex:
In front of the gate. On the table.
At the house. Under the chair.
CONJUNCTION
- It is a word used to connect clauses or sentences to and coordinate words in the same
clause.
Ex:
Raven is nervous but excited. I have a class so I’m in a rush.
Ana and Maricel are sisters. They are not yet done.
INTERJECTION
- It is a word expressing an abrupt remark especially made as an aside or interruption.
Ex:
Wow! Ouch!
Aww! Nice!
