Concerns of Medication Administration
My name is Latora Desue; I'm an African American, 31 years old, and married with two
children. I am the third oldest of seven children, and I was raised in a single-family home. In my
family, we communicate in many ways. The primary language we use in our home is English.
We speak on the telephone, use text messages and social media to communicate. If I get angry,
I use body language such as a stern look or possibly slamming a door. When verbalizing
becomes too much, we write letters for each other to read. The decisions that are made in my
home are shared between my husband and I. We talk about what needs to be done and come to
an agreement most times. Whenever we can't agree, he makes the final decision. I work in
dialysis, and the issues that I have are that my clinic is normally busy which leaves me no time
to get school work done while I'm there. As a result, I've had to cut back my hours to work
weekends only so that I can have time to get my school work done. My job encourages me to
go to school and gives a small reimbursement to help with the cost. I’m 5ft. 3inc. I have a dark
brown skin tone with brown eyes and coarse black hair. I consider myself to be overweight
because I don’t fall within the recommended weight guidelines for my height. I don’t engage in
any drinking or smoking. However, I do engage in breaking the law because of my outrageous
speeding habit. My view of nutrition is that it is important for healthy living. I believe that
nutrition is a huge factor in preventing sickness. I view my nutrition as better than it used to be.
I used to eat out at least three times a week, and I would consume a lot of junk food such as
cake, cookies, and candies. In our home, we cook traditional soul food which is saturated in
fatty oils and full of sodium. We fry chicken often and eat a lot of cheese. Since taking
nutrition, I have changed the way we prepare our food. We don't fry much, and we only use oil
when it's necessary. We eat more fruit and vegetables, and we may go out for dinner once in the
month. Now a typical meal
